Stir Up the Gift

For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands 2 Tim. 1:6

God has loaded you with His gifts. Some you may be using regularly, others may be waiting for you to realize they are there and open the package. In either case, Paul’s instruction to Timothy is God’s word to us all! Stir up the gifts. Fan the flames to steward what He has given you into a blazing fire of glory.

How?

The most basic way is in regards to your Scripture and prayer life. Stay plugged into the Word of God. This is the plumbline by which all prophesy is tested. The more you have His Word in you, the more you will recognize the true voice of prophesy when it bubbles up within you.

Prayer is your direct line of communication with God. Your prayer life is the place of intimacy. You speak to Him; He speaks back to you. Sometimes you speak in intercession for needs, or to express your love, praise and adoration, at other times we encourage you to speak in mysteries as you commune spirit to Spirit in the gift of tongues.

If you are not already in the habit, we suggest that you add fasting to your spiritual lifestyle. You can begin by simply fasting one day per week to clear out your pipeline for the Holy Spirit to flow more freely through you unhindered.

Finally, stay connected to a living, local body of believers. A vital connection to your local church is not only important to help you grow and be discipled in moving in the gifts of the spirit, but it is in the corporate expression of the Body that we have found to be the most effective method of being tutored in hearing, recognizing and responding to the voice of the Lord.
